Liene Hawkins is the recipient of the 2020 Virginia Lawyers Weekly Unsung Legal Heroes Award. This annual statewide recognition shines a spotlight on the Commonwealth’s talented and dedicated legal support professionals. At Phillips & Peters, Liene serves as a paralegal that is consistently going above and beyond her call of duty for her clients and the firm. Liene joined the Phillips & Peters family in 2015. Her rigorous work performance fit right into the office culture. Many days she is the last paralegal to leave the building because of her desire to knock one more task off her to-do list to help her clients move forward. When asked what she enjoys most about her job, Liene answered, “I believe that it is a privilege to serve people.”

This year we are especially grateful for Liene as she coordinated some of the staff at the beginning of the pandemic on a rotating schedule. While the team was safely working remotely, at least one person was in the office every day to do the daily tasks and keep the lights on for our clients. This eventually became the trend for the whole office until the partners allowed everyone to come back under new COVID safety guidelines. Liene is the dedicated and hardworking employee that any legal office would want to have on their team. She is a crucial part of our work family and deserving of this honor.
