Meet Senior Associate Lisa Jackson

Lisa Jackson is a Senior Associate at Phillips & Peters, PLLC. Born and raised in Yakima, Washington, she attended Apple Valley Elementary, West Valley Junior High and High school. She completed her first two years of undergraduate studies at Washington State University. It was then that Lisa’s eyes looked east towards Wilmington, North Carolina. She transferred to the University of North Carolina at Wilmington in 2001. There she completed her Bachelor of Science with a major in Business Administration. Moving up the coast Lisa soon landed in Norfolk, Virginia. It was then she began her career in law enforcement with the Norfolk Police Department.

As a Norfolk Police officer, Lisa was assigned to the Second Patrol Division from 2005 to 2007. In late 2007, she transferred to the Vice and Narcotics Division as an Investigator. In 2010, Lisa had a new side of the law on her mind. It was then she started pursuing her Juris Doctor at Regent University School of Law. Going to law school part-time while still working as an officer was no small task. As her education progressed so did her career. In 2013, she transferred to the Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms, Norfolk Field Office. She served as a Task Force Officer until the end of her law enforcement career. Lisa graduated from Regent University School of Law in December 2014 and was licensed to practice law in Virginia in early 2015.

Since becoming a family law attorney, Lisa has worked the legal side of domestic disputes. She has litigated highly-contested divorce cases and numerous custody and visitation trials. As a certified Guardian ad litem Lisa represents children in need. She also supports the Legal Aid Society of Eastern Virginia by helping indigent clients finalize uncontested divorces. Thanks to her earlier career in law enforcement, she knows the importance of research and detail. Using those skills and others Lisa has a natural ability to connecting with her clients and their goals. She’s known in the community as a no-nonsense advocate and is well-respected among our family law colleagues.

Along with the practice of law, Lisa is a former attorney coach for the Norfolk Public Schools Mock Trial Program. She is a member of the Virginia State Bar, the Norfolk Portsmouth Bar Association, the Chesapeake Bar Association, and the Virginia Trial Lawyers Association.

Outside of work, Lisa enjoys spending time with her family and friends and loves to travel. She enjoys spending time outdoors skiing, fishing, and going to the beach.
