Harborfest 2019: What You Won’t Want to Miss

Harborfest 2019: What You Won’t Want to Miss

This weekend one of our favorite local festivals returns to downtown Norfolk’s waterways! Harborfest is a three-day maritime festival packed full of activities on land and sea. This free event has something for the whole family to enjoy. The Phillips & Peters office is fortunate enough to be located right in the middle of all the action. Over the years we have curated a list of our favorite things to do. Here’s our recommendation for the events you don’t want to miss:

Parade of Sails

The very beginning of Harborfest kicks off with the parade of sails at noon on Friday. Grab a bite to eat and a waterside seat to enjoy the show of boats, tugs, and every vessel you can imagine sailing down the Elizabeth River. You’ll most likely see the Phillips & Peters crew out there doing the same.

Happy Hour at Harborfest

There will be many food and drink vendors to start your weekend off right. Stop by the CHKD Drink Booth aka the Neon Palm Bar from 6 to 8 PM on Friday to catch our own, Jennifer Worden, pouring beer for the masses.

BJ Griffin and the Galaxy Groove at the Boathouse Stage

If you’re looking for a fun and funky show that is full of energy and soul then you won’t want to miss BJ Griffin and the Galaxy Groove hyping up the crowds on Saturday. Starting at 2:45 you can join the dance party that BJ loves to start over at the Boathouse Stage. His unique take on beloved classics is not to be missed.

Of course, the longest running, free maritime festival in America is going to have an epic firework show. No matter where you find yourself at 9:30 on Saturday you’ll have a great view of the pyrotechnics happening over the Elizabeth River.

These are just a few of our favorite things that we are looking forward to. What are you looking forward to at this year’s Harborfest?
